Since 1993, McSherr has been providing Indiana Medicaid Waiver services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in central Indiana. After discontinuing Medicare services, our focus on Home and Community Based Waiver services has been a catalyst for significant growth with the state of Indiana focusing on offering more services to individuals on the waiting list.

We currently provide supported living Medicaid services to over 200 consumers with disabilities in the state of Indiana with offices serving those individuals located in Centerville and Indianapolis, IN.

Joan McLaughlin incorporated McSherr Inc. in 1985 in response to a void created at that time by state hospital closures (de-institutionalization) and cost containment policies instituted by the state of Indiana. The company began operations with one group home housing 8 individuals with disabilities as an alternative to residence in a state hospital or other large Intermediate Care Facility.  Two more group home licenses were granted by the state of Indiana to McSherr that allowed for the opening of our two other facilities.  For a few years McSherr provided Medicare Home Health Services assisting the sick and elderly who were home bound, but discontinued these services in 1997 to concentrate on providing services for developmentally and physically disabled individuals.

Since the death of Joan L. McLaughlin, company founder and president, Joan's daughter, Jennifer Krodel has ascended to the president's position and assumed responsibility for the oversight of company day to day operations.  Gregory Krodel, Jennifer's husband, is the CFO for McSherr and the two run the organization while working together to make important decisions and carry out the original vision that Joan had for McSherr.
